A video camera and a computer is all one power couple needs to produce videos promoting all things Bishop Kelley.

Juniors Kate Littlefield and Joey Copp have filmed all important events ranging from Bishop Kelley’s celebration of its 50th to the gala and Catholic Schools’ Week.

“Father O’Brien wanted to have a way to stay in touch with students,”Littlefield said. O’Brien is what many consider a tech savvy “in the know” priest. He updates his Facebook page via his iPhone, is a wiz at Words With Friends and knows about Flip cameras and YouTube, making his idea for promoting Bishop Kelley on the internet by video all the more acceptable.

From the first meeting where the brainstorming and outlining occurs to the day of the shoot, Copp called the process very “fluid.”

While these two juniors don’t just make videos on “their own time,” they were somewhat chosen for the job.

O’Brien approached them this year after making their own student council videos last year. While none of these videos are scripted, that’s the environment that these two love to work in.

“We just have a general idea and Father [O’Brien] runs wtih it. He is very comfortable in front of the camera- which makes it easy,” Littlefield said.

As for their editing process, it can be deemed nothing short of fluid either.

“A few hours [to edit] all together, depending on the video,” Copp said.

Their most recent endeavor was the Catholic School’ Week video. Littlefield used her Flip camera to interview people, again proving their efficiency.

The three minute and 19 second video of our Catholic Schools Week began with Fr. O’Brien posing the question “What makes Bishop Kelley a great Catholic high school?” to any and all students who had an opinion. Some of the answers included, “the faith of its students,” “retreats” such as Search and Kairos, having a “priest as our president- [because] you can’t get more Catholic than that” and the ability “to grow as Catholics and grow in our faith each day.”

With that and over 50 other videos on YouTube when searching for Bishop Kelley, alums and other people can see just how much Bishop Kelley is a community and the excitement at our school.

Along with their fame on the internet, Littlefield and Copp caught the eye of Dave Crenshaw, a reporter for the Eastern Oklahoma Catholic magazine. When Crenshaw first contacted Bishop Kelley he asked to speak to their video department. To his surprise, he was told it was two students with a video camera, but that didn’t curb his interest, because Littlefield and Copp were featured in the January issue of EOC magazine.

Through all of this, Littlefield and Copp said, more than anything, “[they] developed a better relationship with Father O’Brien.” With their names beside these promotional videos posted on Facebook and YouTube, they said it’s all fun and worth it because, “they get to think of ideas and represent their school.”
