Mrs. Jade Allison will be the new girls’ varsity head basketball coach and assistant varsity track coach in addition to teaching ohysical education next year.

“I believe the students here [at Kelley] strive for success in all they do, and I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be a part of that,” Allison said.

A committee made up of Father O’Brien, Mark Chambers, Mrs. Ellen Doyle, and parents of basketball players was formed, and after weeks of interviews, decided on the Tahlequah Sequoyah alum.

“Tahlequah Sequoyah has a rich basketball tradition, and I’m very excited to have her here,” Father Brian O’brien said.

Having her father as a coach, Allison and her team made it to the state tournament for the first time in school history her senior year.

Graduating in 2000, Allison attended Northeastern State University for her undergraduate degree and OU for her masters in education.

For the past two years, Allison has brought Wagoner High School to a whole new level of playing. Allison brought the Lady Bulldogs out of a rut and coached them to the state tournament and area consolation in her two years being there.

“She’s energetic, very personable and has knowledge of basketball. She took Wagoner to the state tournament,” O’Brien said.

She finished her coaching career with a respectable record of 37 wins and 21 losses.

“I’m really excited for her to be here. I can’t wait for the season to start,” junior basketball player Hayley Schulz said.
