Every year, BK students and Macy’s come together to make wishes come true for children. Students write Christmas letters and donate them to the Macy’s fund, and Macy’s donates $1 for each letter to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Zinnia, 6, was one of the many kids whose wish was granted. Zinnia is suffering with a brain tumor and she became a part of the Make-A-Wish program. She wished she could go to London and with the donations received from the Macy’s Believe Foundation and Make-A-Wish Program, her wish was granted. Zinnia is just one of many who has been able to have their wish granted thanks to all the donors.

“The kids involved in the Make-A-Wish program deserve the world and being able to donate towards their wishes is really touching and shows the Christmas spirit in everyone!” Aisha Hill (11).

Make-A-Wish Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises money and grants the wishes of kids with life-threatening medical conditions.

Macy’s has big red boxes in their stores and encourages kids to bring in their letters to Santa so they can donate more money. Every word counts towards these donations.

“I know the kids will be very thankful and I am praying for them and their families” Allie Johnson (11) said.

All Macy’s stores throughout the country participate in this event and have been granting many kids wishes throughout the years. They have been able to grant wishes like trips around the U.S., or even out of the country. They have also granted wishes from kids who wanted to go to theme parks, go on a shopping spree, or meet their favorite celebrity.

Make-A-Wish has been able to grant 300,000 wishes in the U.S. since 1980 and 15,300 just in 2016. They have also raised over $100 million since 2003 and have changed so many kids lives. Macy’s has impacted 2.4 million people with their donations.

“It’s a great way to get involved and knowing what it goes towards is warming to my heart” Zoe Johnson (11) said.

The donations are taken until December 24 and can be put in the boxes at Penn Square Mall in Oklahoma City or Woodland Hills Mall here in Tulsa. Those who would like to donate can also send a letter online.

Last year, Macy’s gave the Tulsa Make-A-Wish Foundation over $30,000 largely due to the efforts of Bishop Kelley. The Believe foundation has been going on since 2007 and has helped so many chilhdren and their family.

Each student at school received 4 Santa letters to fill out and give to Macy’s. If students want to donate more, blank letters are available. Many schools participate in the Believe foundation held by Macy’s each year and help grant wishes.
