Go back to 1975, the year of Jaws, the end of the Vietnam War, and Kathy Scribner’s first year at Bishop Kelley. This school has grown and developed in many ways and one person who has witnessed this change for almost 50 years is Ms. Scribner. Ms. Scribner has worked at the school for 44 years and will continue to work for as long as she is able.

One of her juniors, Ella Enzbrenner, talks very highly of Ms. Scribner.

“Ms. Scribner is a great teacher, and you can really tell that she knows what she is talking about,” Enzbrenner said.

Taylor Rhoades is a freshman in her honors class.

“She challenges me and makes me a better student,” Rhoades said.

She knows what she is doing with her students. She knows how to push them just enough to get their full potential. She helps students to become the best writers and readers that they can be. Ms. Scribner loves teaching here and it is demonstrated in her passion and dedication when she teaches.

“I love the community. Everyone cares about everyone,” Scribner said.

In 1974 the internet was not a thing. Today, we use Chromebooks and teachers usually teach with Powerpoints off of a computer. Teaching would have been a whole different job than it is now, but through the years with all the different kids she has been able to teach everyone.

She has many great memories here and has loved watching it change and grow over the years.

“My favorite thing was the building of the chapel. It became the heart of our community,” Scribner said.

Ms. Scribner, with her 44 years of experience, has watched and contributed to the prosperous history of this school.
