Student council has been a prominent program at school for many years. Although the benefits of STUCO may not be completely obvious, Student Council helps voice the ideas, interests, and concerns of the student body. The program also allows for students to direct service projects and student functions. This program allows for anyone to lead a group, no matter who that person is. Student body president Zack Lissau is passionate about STUCO’s role in school.

“Student council enables students to be leaders,” Lissau said. “Student council impacts the students since the purpose is for their betterment.”

In addition to organizing most of the school dances, STUCO also helps with other things. They are responsible for student club functions, helping to advertise and assist them.

“Clubs are an integral part of the Bishop Kelley Community,” Lissau said . “STUCO helps these clubs advertise and grow.”

The Student Council is responsible for many of the student activities. Some of the events hosted by STUCO are the Aloha Dance, Sadie Hawkins, and Homecoming. These events are very popular and greatly impact the students, according to Tanner Cole (9).

“I really think the dances help the students connect with people they haven’t talked to before.” Cole said.

Since the beginning of the program, STUCO has played a major role in student activity. To many other schools, BK’s Student Council is a beacon and an example of an amazing student council.

“We are so blessed to be a model to all Student Councils,”  Lissau said. “Our school’s spirit and dedication is a prime example to what BK can achieve.”

The road will not end soon for STUCO, as the new freshman class has provided  more members to the council, increasing size and impact. As more and more students become a part of the program, Student Council will continue to grow,  prosper, and provide a voice to the students.
