Everyone wants an energetic golden doodle who has multiple personalities, has a side job of participating in musicals, and is also an artist.

Mrs. Edmondson, a freshman math teacher, has a dog named Summer, who is a beloved dog in the family and among her students. Some students are more involved with Summer than others, but all students get excited when there is another story about Summer. The students in fourth block created an online petition to get Mrs. Edmondson to bring Summer to school so they can meet her; it was a huge success and they got over one hundred people to sign it. Sabina Martindale (9) in her fourth block and led the charge in this online petition.

“The point of the online petition was to complete the mission of getting Summer to school so she can meet all her fans,” Martindale said.

Mrs. Edmondson loves her golden doodle, but is unsure about how deeply her students care for Summer. She is going to bring Summer in by the end of second quarter according to Martindale, but Mrs. Edmondson is still trying to understand why her fourth block students are so intrigued by her dog.

“I’m not sure how much my students care for Summer, but I am sure she definitely appreciates it,” Edmondson said.

Summer also has multiple personalities for how she is feeling, created by Mrs. Edmondson’s daughters. Summer becomes Puddles when she is being awkward, Eduardo when she becomes wild and hyper, and Paul the weird one; they call Summer whichever name fits her best at the time. She also is an actor in musicals in her free time, and they figured this out when Anna Edmondson got some helpful hints from Summer when she was trying out for the school musical.

One of the stories Mrs. Edmondson has told is about the time they realized Summer’s artistic ability. She had just gotten a bone for her first birthday and had been playing with it for a while. Summer was outside and decided to dig a hole, but it was not any ordinary hole in the ground, it looked exactly like her bone with all the curves. It was so crazy that Mrs. Edmondson told the class and showed them pictures of the extraordinary hole in the backyard. Jillian Pelger (9) in fourth block as well, and it makes her day when she hears about Summer, and cannot wait to meet her in person.

“Even though I have not met her yet, I am blessed to have Summer year round through Mrs. Edmondson’s stories and pictures of her lovely dog,” Pelger said.

Summer has become extremely popular in the lives of Mrs. Edmondson’s fourth block students, and they cannot wait for the day that they get to see Summer in person.
