The answer for a way to grow closer to Christ has been found, and it lies in the Search Retreat.

Search is a retreat program offered to juniors and is promoted in other schools and dioceses around the country. This is a weekend retreat beginning on Friday night and ending Sunday afternoon which allows for students to take a step away from the craziness of everyday life and open their hearts and minds to be able to examine their relationship with God and the relationships with the people in their lives, such as family and friends.

Although the whole idea of Search is to allow students to grow in their faith life, the experience is different for all who go on the retreat. Zack Lissau (11) didn’t have high expectations for the retreat and didn’t think it would be anything special, but ended up with a different outlook on his faith and relationships.

“Before I went on the retreat I didn’t know that it would really bring me closer to Christ and to the people in my life. It was an amazing experience,” Lissau said.

There are many people who look forward to the Search Retreat and can’t wait to uncover what it will do for their relationship with God and how they will live out their faith. Elizabeth Butler (11) is one of these people who hopes to grow closer to Christ during the Search weekend.

“I have heard such good things about Search and I can’t wait to go because I know it will do amazing things for my faith life,” Butler said.

Many people who have already attended the Search Retreat recommend that everybody go and experience it for themselves. Owen Baumgartner (11) went on the retreat in October and wants everybody to be able to attend and take in all that it has to offer.

“This retreat was so eye-opening for me, and I know it will be for all people who go. It’s definitely not something you want to miss out on. It’s awesome,” Baumgartner said.

Whether you’re a first-timer on the retreat or you’re leading those first-timers closer to Christ, Search is an opportunity to find yourself and to find a way to help others on their journey in faith.
