As the first day of school rolled around, freshmen were not the only new faces. Over the summer, Father Kastl and the executive board hired new faculty and staff. The new faculty and staff include: Yahaira Boykin ( Philanthropy Events Coordinator), Aaron Alonso (Math Teacher), Ursula Kinzer (Executive Assistant to the Administration), Katy Moylan (English/Latin Teacher) , Dennis Keely ( Math Teacher), Terry Stupp (Teacher / Head Girls Cross Country / Assist. Boys Tennis) , and Brian Ross (Network Systems Administrator).

Principal Jim Franz, sat down with a class and was asked questions about the positions.

Though Franz was happy about the low turnover rate, the stress of finding good quality teachers was overwhelming.

“At the end of last year, a few teachers left and their positions needed to be filled. There were only four positions that were needed to better the iConnect program,” Franz said.

One of the new teachers, Aaron Alonso is a BK alumnus and teaches senior trigonometry. The school is and was a big part of his life. His father and brother are also alums. So, when the school offered him a job he could not turn it down.

“I have loved teaching here so far. It has been a privilege to come back and work with the teachers who inspired me when I was younger, to give back to the community that formed me, and to make a positive impact in the lives of my students,” Alonso said.

One of the newest staff members, Yahaira Boykin is a parent of two students of BK and is the Special Event Coordinator. Her knowledge of The school was limited before she got the job, but she knew that she wanted the job.

“Choosing to work at Bishop Kelley has been the best decision I have ever made. It keeps me close to my daughters and gives me the opportunity to do what I love. Everyone has been so welcoming and it has been a wonderful experience so far,” Boykin said.

The new faculty and staff have had a impact on  the school and the community. The school looks forward to keeping them for years to come.
