Gelato, pizza, spaghetti, and Papa Francisco! Thirteen lucky juniors and seniors get to take the trip of a lifetime this school year. The school is offering an 8 day trip to Rome during this 2019 Spring Break. These thirteen students along with Fr. Gary Kastl and Coach Jerri Berna will leave the United States March 14th and arrive in Italy on the 15th.

While on this eight day pilgrimage, the students and chaperones will learn an immense amount of history about the Catholic Church. They will visit a variety of sites including the Church of the 12 Apostles, the Catacombs of St. Callixtus, St. Peter’s Basilica, and so many more.

In the museums and churches, the group will see a ton of art from some of the world’s most treasured artists. Religious works by DaVinci, Michelangelo, as well as Giotto fill the streets of Italy.

Junior Caroline Snapp (11) is one of the students who will go on the trip. She waits in anticipation for the big adventure.

“I’m so excited to meet the Pope. He’s such a big figure in the Catholic Church and I think it’s going to be so cool seeing him in person. Not to mention the gelato,” Snapp said.

Father Kastl, president of the school also expresses his feelings toward the trip. This will be his ninth time going to Rome.

“I can’t wait to see the Pope again,” Kastl said. “It is always exciting for me to take a group of people who have never been before to experience them experience Rome.”

It may be another two years before the school will offer an Italy trip like this one, and that is why the students jumped on this opportunity. Will Thomas (11), another junior who is going to Rome, has never been to Italy, and this will be a new experience for him.

“I am so grateful to have this opportunity,” Thomas said. “No doubt this will be one of the best trips I will ever go on.”

This 2019 Rome trip will be filled with so many memories for all the students going. They will always be able to share these moments together for a lifetime.
