Every school has superheroes roaming around their school. Some of these teenage superheroes will gather at Bishop Kelley for STUCO Districts on March 27th. This year, Bishop Kelley has the big responsibility of hosting the spring event. Many students are working hard in order to make districts fun and be a good representation of the school. This year, the spring theme is Legos. It is focused on the idea of “building leaders.”

Jenna Swords (12) is the District 7 Secretary and represents the school during district events. She and her committees have been working hard all year for districts. She thought that “building leaders” would be a great theme for districts.

“It’s important to know the key elements that make different leaders and the different aspects of being a leader,” Swords (12) said.

The event will take place on March 27. On that day, hundreds of kids will be gathered on campus to play leadership games, listen to speakers, have fun, and most importantly learn what it takes to be a good leader. Jacob Tran (12) is the head of the registration committee for districts. He is in charge of knowing how many people to expect and the numerical aspect of the event. He has worked hard to make the registration process smooth for the other schools coming.

“We want to make sure schools are comfortable and the registration process is easy for them which is why we are working day in and day out,” Tran (12) said.

Besides learning new things, districts is a fun way to meet new people. People from other schools like Jenks, Bixby, Union, Cascia Hall, and many others come to this event. It is a fun way to meet new people who have the same common interest. Ben Bernard (11) is a dedicated member of the student council. He attended fall districts at Union last year, and recalls the fond memories it made.

“Going to such a big event like that was an eye opener. I had a lot of fun and met and reconnected with friends,” Bernard (10) said.

STUCO is open to every student and there is a place to get involved for everyone.
