Strength and Conditioning Coach Beau Beathard will be leaving at the end of this school year. After his wife got a new job earlier this year, they made the decision to move to Lawton, Okla. Though the school year is coming to a close, there has been no given information on whether or not a permanent replacement has been found.

The BK athletic community is losing a important piece to their success. He has trained athletes here for the last 3 years, making athletes stronger ever since. He has become a key piece to many teams’ successes, such as football, basketball, volleyball, golf, swimming, etc. With hopes for more championships to come this spring season, Beathard expects to keep training students up until the last day of school, missing a few days here and there for job interviews.

Beathard has made many athletes both physically and mentally stronger. For seniors, Beau leaving is not a huge deal, since they are leaving at the same time. But for those who wished to continue working with him, this may cause distress, wondering who the new coach will be.

Collin Morrison (10) thinks about how having a new coach instead of Beathard might affect his performance.

“Without Beau, we won’t have that personal touch like we did before, and it might take awhile before the new guy gets acclimated,” Morrison said. “He knew our injuries, limits, and how to push us harder.”

Athletic director Lance Parks is certain Beathard’s spot will be replaced, but it might not be easy.

“I will just miss Beau Beathard as a human being, and I think all of our coaches and kids can agree with that,” Parks said. Parks is hoping to have a replacement found by the end of the school year, just in time for summer workouts.

In Lawton, Beathard is hoping to continue training athletes.

“Our feelings of excitement also come with some sadness,” Beathard said. “Leaving this area and the people will not be easy.”
