Teachers leaving and/or retiring isn’t something new to the school, but this year, quite a few teachers leaving. Most of these teachers have found new job opportunities and have decided to part ways from Bishop Kelley. Some of the teachers leaving include Ms Kanatzar, Coach Beathard, Mrs Parrish, Mrs Bender, Mrs. McMasters and Peter Simmons. All of these teachers have had great relationships with their students and after hearing this news, some students are sad. Annabel Pearce (10) hates to see the teachers leave, but she understands.

“It’s sad that we are losing some really good teachers, but I’m glad they are doing what they want to,” Pearce said

Many of these teachers also had friendships with other teachers and staff members. This has been sad news for them as well. Most of the teachers who are leaving have served at the school for years, so they will surely be missed. Principal Jim Franz likes to look at this event in a positive way.

“This may be a sad thing that’s happening, but we are happy for all of the teachers, and we support them in their decisions,” Franz said.

Some teachers aren’t necessarily leaving, but they are switching jobs in school. For example, Mrs. Abboud, a former English teacher, will be the librarian next year. Even though people love her as an English teacher, she is glad that she gets to make new experiences at the school.

“I always wanted to eventually try out being the librarian sometime in the future, but when I saw that the job space opened up, I saw it as a sign, and I took it,” Abboud said.

Even though this may seem like a sad loss for the school, it is good that the teachers are finding new jobs, and going in the direction they want to in life.
