As much as everybody will miss football, it’s time for the swim team!

The number one sport in high school is most likely football, but winter means it’s time for the swimmers.

The Bishop Kelley Swim Team has been practicing since October 1st with their coach, Mrs. Ellen Glasgow. Glasgow has been the coach for the past 5 years.

Swimmer Owen Anderson (9) said that swimming is a very relieving and nice sport. It is beneficial towards his health and he also just likes to swim, as other swimmers do as well. Swimming is fun, but it is also great for people’s health. Anderson has trouble with his lungs, running is difficult but swimming gives him exercise without the pain.

“I like swimming and it’s a really good sport, but it’s also really good for my health so it’s a win-win,” Anderson said.

Head coach Glasgow says that she has made great relationships with her former students, and the whole swim team does. Anderson said that within the swim team great friendships are born, and people have to work together because they are part of the team.

As much as the swimmers may love the sport, some do claim that it is incredibly tiring but worth it in the end. Anderson said that the team gets lots of exercise and forms a bond.

Coach Glasgow said that it is different from other sports, you learn things differently, and you don’t have to be new to the sport.

“We have 5 new swimmers who have never swam before,” Glasgow said.

The team works hard and pushes their limits. In the recent Bartlesville meet, four swimmers, Abbey Mink,  Claire Beisler, Preston Hoang, and Jack Callan all got first place in different competitions and can’t wait to win more.
