Walking down the halls, everywhere you look you will see girls wearing white socks. This however is not the same for boys. Boys get to wear any colored socks they want. If you ask an administrator why that is, they will tell you because you cannot see the boys socks and that it would be too distracting if girls wore different colored socks.

Allowing boys to wear any colored socks they want gives them an opportunity to express their personality. This is an opportunity that girls who wear skirts do not have. Girls are restricted to wearing plain white socks, while boys are able to wear anything because they are wearing pants. However, whenever boys sit in their chairs their pants ride up and you can see their socks. Therefore, there is no good reason why the whole student body should be allowed to wear any colored socks.

However, this does not mean that everyone would be wearing neon, tie-dye or rainbow colored socks. It can be as simple as allowing students to wear any solid colored socks, or at least any neutral solid colored socks.

Therefore, all of these reasons are why the administration should allow girls to wear colored socks because it gives the whole student body a chance to show a little bit of their personality.
